Blog Tour: Mine to Spell by Janeal Falor- Guest Post & Giveaway!

Today I'm ecstatic to be taking part in the Blog Tour for Mine to Spell by Janeal Falor, the second full length novel in Falor's sensational Mine series! I'm a massive fan of Janeal and this series and absolutely adored this book as I did the others in the series.

I'm thrilled to have Janeal on the blog to Guest Post today! And I also have three, get that  three e-copies of Mine to Spell to give away! Keep in mind this book can be read as a standalone if you want.

I have one sister and while we were growing up, well, let's just say there were not the best of feelings between us. Though she did leave me some awesome hand-me-downs. She's cool now, of course. I mean, she's the one that changed, not me, right? Fine, I changed a ton too, and now she's one of my favorite people ever. And yes, this tangent has a point.
When I first worked on YOU ARE MINE, Serena's character developed and the world grew for her to have sisters. A LOT of sisters. Now, I love my one sister, but I can't imagine life with more than a baker's dozen of them. Just think of all the fights I would have gotten into, though I'm sure there would have been lots of awesome good times too. But even with just one sister, there were many experiences which I was able to draw from.
People often tell me that my sister and I have the same mannerisms. For example, we both go crazy when talking with our hands. We're both are opinionated and we have three kids each. But we have differences too, like she may be older, but she's a lot shorter. She writes non-fiction while I love my fiction worlds.
Serena and Cynthia are the same way. They use some of the same phrases, like “Blast!” (Random fact that's not in the books: Cynthia began saying “blast” first and Serena picked it up from her.) But they also use different phrases, like Cynthia often says “fantastic” while Serena uses it sparingly.
While they both care for their siblings and hate their father, Serena dealt with more of his abusive behaviors, in large part, by shielding her sisters from them. Because of this, Serena had a harder time doing things for herself even when she grew brave enough to do them. The memory of her father's punishments are always lurking in the background.
But thanks to Serena, Cynthia was protected from a portion of her father's abuse. She still had to deal with it, just not nearly as much. It makes her more willing to be rash and that combines with her trying to be more like Serena, trying to protect her sisters. Only, it doesn't come out like she was expecting. (if you've read Mine to Spell, ya know what I'm talking about ;)
Overall, Cynthia and Serena care deeply for their family and each other. Even with their similarities, Cynthia's voice was so distinctive from Serena's that it made it easier for me to write them so as to sound like two different people. Cynthia's voice is lighter and more bubbly. But best of all, she doesn't shield her heart nearly as much so her romance has more sparks.
Do you have a sister or friend you're close to? What similarities and difference do you share that make being together extra good?

Cynthia has always hidden from her father’s hexes behind her older sister. When her family gains independence unheard of for women, she’s relieved that her days of harsh punishments are over. But as her seventeenth birthday approaches—the typical age to be sold to a new master—death threats endanger her sisters. She now faces two options: run or meet society’s expectations.

For once, Cynthia isn’t going to let her older sister shield her from the problem. She’s going to prove to herself, her sisters, and society that her family isn’t a threat to their traditions. She willingly chooses to be purchased by a new master. A bold step that takes her somewhere she never thought she would go and to a man she might possibly fall in love with. With his help, she may just find a way to save her sisters while discovering how to stand up for herself. If she lives long enough.

You Are Mine (Mine #1)

Amazon best-selling author Janeal Falor lives in Utah with her husband and three children. In her non-writing time she teaches her kids to make silly faces, cooks whatever strikes her fancy, and attempts to cultivate a garden even when half the things she plants die. When it's time for a break she can be found taking a scenic drive with her family, fencing, or drinking hot chocolate.
